An excellent sharpened and revitalized scan of the excellent original, Linda.
A beautifully detailed work, and the limited skyscape colour, really enhances this fine piece.

  • Kate Eller replied

Hello Colin! I always love your thoughtful critiques, and appreciate them very much. The first upload was a digital capture with my old outdated camera ( which needs to be in a museum ). This upload is an almost perfect match. Scanning almost always gets it right, but I can’t do that with my larger pieces. Will have to get a new 8 or more megapixel camera. Always look forward to your comments Colin.

A lovely romantic study Kate. I used to build models like these in my youth so they particularly apeal.

  • Kate Eller replied

Thank you Brian for such a special comment. Do you still build ship models? or do you still have any you have done? I always wanted to try that.

The details and the reflections are just wonderful. The sky is just the perfect contrast to all the intricate ships!

  • Kate Eller replied

Hi Seth my friend! You are so kind to say that. I am a render person normally…I render just what I see. But on this one I took artistic license with an old image I liked.

still stunning Kate….detail is amazing must have taken you a while to do all the lines on the ships which are perfect!

  • Kate Eller replied

Oh, Linda, you are too too kind dear girl. You say the kindest things. You know me, I use those teeny tiny brushes, which all of my teachers told me to throw away…....but how are ya ‘posed to get all that teeny tiny detail??

  • Lynda Robinson

    Lynda Robinson

What a wonderful painting Kate (or should I say Lindy Lou)!!!! Love everything about this one.

  • Kate Eller replied

No Lyndy, it’s Lindy Looooooo :) Where have you been anyway girl? You’ve been out in that studio, talking to your bird again haven’t you? I’ll bet you have finished another masterpiece. Gotta go see. Thanks for the sweet comment my dear friend.

  • Alexandra Felgate

    Alexandra Felgate

Wow, this is just beautiful. When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was a charcoal drawing, amazed to see it is in acrylic! Just fabulous work!

  • Kate Eller replied

Hi Alexandra. Really?....like a charcoal? I’ll have to go see. Yep, acrylic it is. I use acrylic quite a bit as opposed to oil simply because it is quicker…...but I like oils better because of the “workableness” of it…...s’just messier. Thank you so much for your very kind comment Dear.

The old sailing ship models are long gone Kate, sunk without trace as they didn’t get many miles to the galleon. Sorry about the pun, I’m afraid it’s in the nature. However, I always think sailing ships were great subjects for paintings.

  • Kate Eller replied

Sorry I missed this comment Brian. Heyyyyy, that was a funny pun Brian. When you least expect it, I’ll getcha back…................ :O
