    Douglas Hunt

you’ve done a marvellous job on what appears to me to be a tough subject.

  • Kate Eller replied

Thank you Douglas. It is an old painting, and I cannot even remember if I thought it difficult at the time. I think “difficult” depends on your artistic mood that day …...have you noticed that? If I’m in a grump, I can’t do squat.

This is a very detailed and fresh looking watercolour, Linda.

The modern boat against the modern cityscape background is interesting, and a fine inclusion of the figures – complete with sunglasses!
The excellent waves and spray, add the perfect finishing touch!

Incredible detail! I’m a sailor, who paints racing boats and you have all the lines headed to the right places. That almost never ever happens and you got it all in 10X12 without blotches or heavy handedness. By the way you can tell your crew here when they are sailing off the wind, like this, they can pull on a little more outhaul and get another 1/10 of a knot. Great JOB

  • Kate Eller replied

Well I haven’t the slightest idea what “outhaul”, “sailing off the wind”, or “1/10 of a knot” all means but I am going to take your word for it Randy, because you do sound like a “real” sailor. and, you’ll probably be sorry to know that I guessed at all of the lines…and where they were supposed to go. I must be a real disappointment. I just like to paint ships…..and I do have a pretty steady hand. That’s good, huh?! Kidding aside….Randy, I am impressed with your nautical knowledge AND your portfolio. Thanks bunches for your great comment. Heave Ho!
