RedBubble is a WONDERFUL place! Everytime I come here, I tend to go and discover artists who I’ve never ever seen or heard of before; and, their work is just TOTALLY IMPRESSIVE! ;-)

  • Kate Eller replied

Thank you Paul! I’ll take that compliment. You are so right….RB is a great site for artists to get to know each other, learn from each other and enjoy some really impressive works.

Thanks for the comment. I love this piece (and a lot of others) of yours. As has been said by others, there is motion in this painting. Oh, and if you’re 63, that photo must have been taken 25 years ago! :-)

  • Kate Eller replied

Thank you so much Marlene for commenting on my work. I appreciate it very much coming from you. You are a genius with graphite….one of the best on RB. I used that photo of myself because it was just handy at the time, and already on the computer. I was about 54 or 55.

Wonderful waterwork ! you have captured a real sense of action & motion here & using a limited palette for the background has thrown the subject matter to the fore. A1.

  • Kate Eller replied

I think something is wrong with my comment list. I missed your lovely compliment Lorus. Your thoughts about my work are always appreciated.

    no wayyyyyy,
    this is so realistic!
how did you manage it, did it take much time,
i wish you could brif me on watercolors paintings, i never used em!!

  • Kate Eller replied

This painting was done so long ago, I can’t remember how long it took. This is an acrylic painting done on stretched canvas. I did a lot of acrylic paintings during that time. Watercolors are a different sort of animal. I wish I could say I’m an expert, but I’m not. They are quite versatile though….they can be used with several different techniques. Take a look at Bev Morgan’s watercolors. Now, she is an expert in my opinion, especially in negative watercolor painting. Thanks, Ismail, for your very sweet comment.

Stunning realism, motion and contrasts! Thesis one of my all time favorites of yours, Linda.
Beautifully muted blues, in the background, to imply the distance, creating a wonderful depth.
And the waves, spray and sail details, are perfect.

The waves and figures are superbly painted – impressivelycreating an energy and spirit of the U.S. Atlantic coast.
