I was set up at noon. In the afternoon, the weather got hot and breezy….It threatened a bit a the end of the day….
Then on August 9th, it was hot and breezy early until 2pm. At that time, the organizers wisely shut down the show early because 80 M.P.H. winds were on their way….
Very poor weather for this two day show.
Sales were average because of the weather. On a nice day, I would do better. Few people were carrying bags, but again,I would have done half as much better if we had had good weather.
I sell paintings. So a couple of times I had to lower the side walls on my tent to protect them from the rain.
There is a parking problem at this show. Parking meters are in the best spots on the street near show site in Library Park. The vendors clog them…..they need an ordinance which would make the meters just for customers (including handicap customers) during the show except for unloading time and loading time for vendors. The organizers need to take vendor license plate numbers on the show application to move the vendors out after unloading.
The show is at a gorgeous venue at Library Park along the shore of Lake Geneva, a vacation playground of the rich and famous. The bay is filled with lots of sailboats and cigar boats too. There are mansions and lots of beautiful homes. Many Chicago people vacation at the “lake”.
Weather was the biggest factor
