The first thing is that we must all adopt Barack’s approach to things. We must talk “nice” to our republican/conservative friends and try to get them to come over to our side. I know that these people do not have much compassion for the poor, the sick, the elderly and others, and are greedy and love being unregulated capitalists. But it is important not to alienate them. Because deep down (way deep down), some of them realize that this country, its infastructure and its people are the ones who have made them wealthy. And now it is time for them to share with those who have helped them generate their wealth.
I am just betting that some (not all) feel guilty about the broken health care system and realize that when someone has to file bankruptcy solely because they get sick, it is very unfair. Deep in their hearts, quite a few of them know that being wealthy does not make you more deserving of health care. They know that they are not really better than poor people. Of course some rich people still think they are better than others, but I choose to just ignore them. Actually I sort of look down a bit on these unfortunate non christian people. But I am careful not to develop a superiority attitude toward them. I mean, I dont want to be like they are. Instead, lets do what Barack does, talk nice to them.
There is another reason to talk nice to the wealthy. Unfortunately the rich have power. And many want to see Barack’s ideas defeated. For example we have the bad boys at Fox News. Obviously the owners of Fox News are willing to spend money to defeat Barack’s health care plans. And they are will to twist the facts and throw all kinds of things out there. For example they know that people in this country REALLY care about their children (as they should, after all, children is what life is all about.), so they say that funding health care will raise the health care costs and the national debt so high that it will bankrupt our children’s future. Let me tell you this, it will not happen. Instead, Barack will raise taxes even higher on the wealthy. I guarantee you that he plans to do this. He is just being nice and being careful not to get them all upset by announcing it right now.
But my my point here is that it sure would be wonderful if we could help him get a few more democratic senate seats to develp a filibuster proof Senate for the democrats and Obama. ( what a goofy rule, 51 out a 100 votes is not a victory, you need 60. That needs to be changed too…but this is something to talk about at another time.) Electing more democratic senators would make it much easier to pass health care reform.
The bottom line is we need to vote out republican senators as soon as possible! And talk nice as we do it.
Talk nice while voting out republican senators
