Unfortunately Barack Obama cannot win the presidency of the United States in 2008 because racism is alive and well in this country.
Many people want to believe that racism is not a big enough factor to make a difference…..NOT TRUE…..even with a great orator like Barack Obama.
The election will be close as it always is…..something like 51% to 49%......so if just 2 or 3 % of the electorate vote for McCain….because he is white…...Barack will loose…..
The exit polls in West Virginia primary asked Clinton voters who they would vote for in the general election if it was between McCain and Obama….about a third said Obama, 41% said McCain, and the rest said they would not vote….
Just read the paper of any area of the country where African Americans have a substantial population, there is still tons of hatred…..for example between the police and the African American population….further African Americans and whites live in separate area of cities and many want it to be that way…...and on and on.
Sorry Barack cannot win
America is still too racist

Well, I’m white, and Barack is my choice. Now, with that said, this is the last time I talk politics on RB.

I am white and the author of the “Sorry Barack cannot win”. And I am not stating in this article whether I am for or against Barack…..I am only stating the “facts of life” in this article….
Also I respect everyone’s views on who they vote for….whether I agree or disagree…..mutual respect is the only way to have an open discussion of the issues.

I do not understand why a political view has to posted on RB. I agree with Thomas… politics does not belong here.

Not especially related to WIsconsin artwork – there are better places for your views.

I think that politics and art go together….there is politics in everything…..even art…..especially if you try to get into some juried shows…lol.. it is not up to you guys to set the RB rules….I say this respectfully…..
yevad98, 4 months ago
I checked and there are a whole bunch of political postings on RB….just put Obama into the writing search…..so basically I feel very justified in writing about politics….now if you fellows get RB to establish a rule against political postings…..I would respectfully follow same….

Picasso was very political and wrote “The Dream and Lie of Franco” and also did 18 political etchings..he was expressing his dislike of the Spanish dictator Franco….ditto tons of other artists who have tons of politcs in their work…..
Does the Welcome to Wisconsin group have a rule against politics…..or is it just a suggestion from one of its members…I know it is the later….
If Barack comes again to Wisconsin…...I want to photo him and then paint a portrait of him…..Wisconsin is Barack country, after all he won the primary here….

The very fact that you people are objecting is a political statement….and I respect your right to do it.

Politics is not the art of the possible. It consists in choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable. (John Kenneth Galbraith)
2nd U.S. President
I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce, and agriculture, in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain. (John Adams)
-Iraqi official in the Ministry of Culture
The last time anything deliberately political happened was in the 1980s, when an artist made paintings with the blood of soldiers who were fighting in the war against Iran. (Anonymous)

Hey ole buddy, how you been
Not much has changed here on my end
No I don’t think she’s comin’ back
We better not get into that
Let’s talk about baseball
Talk a little small talk
There’s gotta be a good joke
That you’ve heard
Let’s talk about NASCARs
Old Hollywood movie stars
Let’s talk about anything
Anything in this world
But politics, religion and her
Politics can start a fight
Religion’s hard to know who’s right
And one more topic I won’t touch
That one’s her—it hurts too much
Let’s talk about baseball
Talk a little small talk
There’s gotta be a good joke
That you’ve heard
Let’s talk about NASCARs
Old Hollywood movie stars
Let’s talk about anything
Anything in this world
But politics, religion and her
Let’s talk about NASCARs
Old Hollywood movie stars
Let’s talk about anything
Anything in this world
But politics, religion and her
But politics, religion and her

Without government, without our family and soldiers believing in and keeping our freedom, what is art? Art is the very freedom we have to express our feelings…
but my personal feelings…. about who will be our next president I will keep to myself and PRAY! LOL
yevad98, 4 months ago
Stephfine….please note that I did not say in my posting who I favored for president….I did this on purpose….although if I had said who I favor, it would be OK…..art cannot hide from politics….and vice versa

The Republicans love it that so many people are afraid to discuss the issues….so instead of discussing McCain’s position on health care, they tell each other that he(McCain) is decorated veteran…...how will that help them when they get that big medical bill…..lol….again I say all of this very respectfully…..
Really we need even more Civics education in school….so people can make wise choices on political candidates…..and not vote based on candidate qualities that dont matter….
Obviously I am a Barack voter…..and if I talk to someone who tell me that they are a McCain man, I respect that…..I never get confrontational…...that would just drive them further toward McCain…..Instead I ask them to go to the candidate websites and read the candidate platforms and ask them to ask themselves how implementation of the policies would affect them directly….
