The Sheep Make It So

You know how, there are people whose whole lives revolve around WWF and “reality” programs, and they’ll swear to you that it’s “all real”? They’re the people who get pissed off at you when you try to point out that it’s all an act…a sham. And God forbid you should ever say such a thing if you happen to be in a gathering of these poor misguided souls. You’d be lucky to escape without being tarred and feathered.

When you wake up to what’s actually happening on the political scene and you try to discuss the reality of it, you run into the same reaction from at least 90% of your fellow citizens. They treat you with the same incredulity as the WWF freaks. They argue “FACTS” as the see them and call you “conspiracy theorist” because they actually believe that the business in Washington is going along as we’ve been taught all our lives. That our votes actually count for something and if there really are hidden agendas and criminal scheming going on, that it’s negligible because somewhere there are some magical authorities that keep that sort of thing in check.

They immerse themselves in the election process and wave banners for their democrat or republican flunkies that are just waiting to step up and take a huge bite out of our collective asses and if some candidate happens to step up and point out the pointlessness of biz as usual and the status quo stagnancy of it all, the status quo simply responds with the word “UNELECTABLE” and all the little sheep respond by making it so.

Those sheep can’t, or WON’T, see the republicans and democrats sniggering in their liquor-stocked back-room clubs at the end of the day, clapping each other on their backs in congratulatory appreciation of the way they pulled off the charade once again. The sheep can’t see their politicians thumbing their noses at their too-easy gullibility and settling down in comfortable chairs to bask in their invulnerability. The sheep can’t see that the sheep make it so.
