Could Be

Could be because I’ve never heard
The music of the trees.
Could be that when all is said and done
Life is a disease.
Could be that ill has got a cure
But pardon, if you please.
Could be I’ll stay and bear the risk
To listen to the trees.

Could be that all my cares and woes
Are after all, my lot.
Could be that I’ve no right to pine
For troubles that I’ve got
Could be I’ve got some apologies
To deliver, like as not.
Could be for letting myself become
A hopeless drunken sot.

Could be I pay the piper
For tunes I’ve bought dearly.
Could be I cast my hard won gold
In payment for his fees
Could be the tunes I get to hear
Are like a symphony
Could be those tunes are echoing
The music of the trees.

And I’ve but to…listen.

    Could be, George!
Questioning and taking stock may well be a good thing.
Maybe we all need to re appraise and re prioritize at times, for this keeps us on ‘the path’ of real and true and …I ramble, forgive
    A thorty write Sir
    Sandra :)

  • LOL. Ramble my way any time you want, hun. Glad you liked it. Thanx.

A WONDERFUL WRITE GEORGE…I THINK YOU ARE HEARING THE MUSIC OF THE TREES AS WE SPEAK!!! YOU ARE NOT HOPELESS GEORGE!!! YOU ARE A WRITER OF HONEST, HEARTFELT, POWERFUL VERSE!! YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL GIFT…THE ABILITY TO EXPRESS YOURSELF AND YOUR INNER FEELINGS!! YOU ARE RICHER THAN YOU REALISE!!!! BRAVO!

  • Well you’re right, Ray, I’m not hopeless anymore. But there was a time when I was and I blamed everything except myself. Opening up and hearing the painful truth is what help. It’s all a matter of perspective, my good friend.
Thank you so much for these kind words.
