Sen. Joe Moneymaker's Unmitigated Gall

by: George A. Yesthal

I sent Sen. (we’ll call him) Joe Moneymaker [Rep] a complimentary note thanking him for standing up for our 2nd amendment rights by NOT signing the U.N. Small Arms treaty act. I also sent Sen. (we’ll call him) Bob Moneyspender [Dem] a scathing letter for signing it. I don’t think I’ll be hearing from him again.

The point is, Joe Moneymaker has since been flooding my emails with updates about his decisions and voting record. I always got regular updates but now it’s several a day and this morning, I got a long article about how the Democrats finally passed a budget after four long years but how its insufficient (well Duh!) and at the end of the letter was a request for a donation to fight the evil democrats and make them toe the line. Well, I thought we were already funding the issue through his salary with our tax dollars. And by the way…did you know that politicians still get a traveling stipend, (which was ALL that the founding fathers got) on top of their salaries.

1. A sum for travel based on the following formula: 64 times the rate per mile, multiplied by the mileage between Washington, DC, and the furthest point in a Member’s district, 18 plus 10%. The minimum mileage amount is $6,200 for a Member. The rate per mile used to calculate the 2010 allowance was as follows:
Table 1. Mileage Multiplier for MRA
Mileage Between Washington, DC, and the Furthest Point in a Member’s District
Fewer than 500 miles……………$.96
500 …….to…………749miles…… .86
750……..to………..999 miles……. .71
1, 000….to……..1, 749 miles…… .61
1, 750….to………2, 249 miles…… .51
2, 250….to………2, 499.miles….. .48
2, 500….to……..2, 999.miles……. .43
3,000 …………miles or more…..,1. 32

I looked up Joe Moneymaker’s salary. It’s $174.000 annually. That’s not counting his superlative health insurance that covers his whole family. That’s thrown in free. I’m collecting SSI. I get 929.00 per mo. After they deduct my Medicare Part B ($104.00) I get $825 × 12 = $9,990 per year.

Joe Moneymaker makes almost 18 times what I make in a year. His free health insurance alone is costing (the taxpayers) more than I make in a year, it’s free to him and I pay for my healthcare. And he’s asking me for money. After I already paid them 1/3rd of my gross earnings for a lifetime. I’m sorry but that is what I define as unmitigated gall. This is what I get for complimenting him for simply doing his job?
