Part of a series of ‘Splat’ paintings, ‘Dub Splat 06’ features a turquoise Volkswagen Beetle emerging from a green/turquoise paint splat on a white background.
(The wheels, bumper, headlight surrounds and roof rack have all been finished in a chrome paint).
Back in the eighties, a little person was born. That little person grew a bit and said his first word… car. He drew pictures, usually of cars. He became inspired by music, spray paint, Vincent van Gogh, films, paint splats, architecture, Frank Miller, the British landscape, photography, Jack Vettriano, love, Japan and a small purple character, who he named Bert. He wanted to be an artist. He used all these things that had inspired him and drew more pictures. That little person is me.
