On a recent visit to Exeter Cathedral I was lucky to see a fantastic exhibition of sculptures by Jilly Sutton which ran from 25th April to 13th May 2014.
Her inspiration comes from the ancient trees and woodland that surround her studio on the banks of the River Dart in Devon. Using locally fallen or felled timber, she carves very large heads and figures, sandblasting and liming to give them their unique, grainy character.
