One of many interesting historic monuments in St Laurence church, Ludlow, Shropshire is this early 17th century memorial to Dame Mary Evre, d. 1612, wife of Lord Evre, Baron of Malton and daughter of Sir John Dawney of Yorkshire. The detail of Lady Evre’s costume show the fashion of the late Elizabethan period, with the wide neck ruff.
