As many of you know, 2 weeks ago I have started a campaign to Boycott the up coming movie “Chernobyl Diaries” to force Warner Brother to donate 50% of the profits worldwide from this movie to the Children of Chernobyl. Boycotting Chernobyl Diaries During the last 2 weeks I have encountered a number of people, many just born in the 90s, that didn’t understood why I;m doing such a big deal for a silly horror movie like Chernobyl Diaries. The majority of them sounded really disenfranchise to what really happened at Chernobyl, that night of April 29, 1986, and I had the feeling that they are no able to fully understand the whole gravity of the tragedy. It puzzled me.
So in respond to this involuntary ignorance to the historical events lived in that Spring, I decided to post in 10 parts a documentary made by The Discovery Channel for the 20th Anniversary. Till today, this is the most compelling narration of the event and the months after the worst Nuclear Accident as well as the victims and the heroes that fought blindly against a invisible enemy and the ignorance of a System that broke few years after.
I hope this recompilation helps you understand the gravity of what happened at Chernobyl and why I’m so offended by the concept and approach of a movie like Chernobyl Diaries. No one, much less a corporation, should ignore the pain and the suffering of millions just because they think the have a cool idea to make money. Honestly, I do believe this time, they have gone too far. Thank you for being there and for all your support. I let you now with The Battle of Chernobyl.
I might not change how our system works, and how disenfrinchise we have become, but I won’t stay quiet doing absolutely nothing
