Taken one winter afternoon in the tiny town of Malagash, on the North coast of Nova Scotia, Canada. I had the fortune to get to live in this remote (my nearest neighbour was about 1km away) winter wonderland for about 3 months back in 2000, where there was many a photographic scene to behold. I lived literally 5 footsteps from where this photo was taken and the bay that the photo looks out upon freezes over through Winter to such a thickness that people would drive their utes (pick up trucks) across the ice from the next closest town of Tatamagouche, some 20 miles away, to save driving right around the bay.
The only pity was that back when I was there I had a pretty crappy camera so few of the shots ever eventuated into anything worthy of being shown in a place such as RedBubble.
Still, I do think this photo makes the grade – if for no other reason that I feel it captures what a truly wondrous place it was there.
