Turtle – is one of the oldest and most sacred species, symbolizing longevity, wisdom and courage. The turtle shell, which was used as a calendar by the ancient, with the thirteen large squares counting out all the full moons of the year, the 28 small squares on the outside count the days of each lunar month.

I created this piece for a special friend’s birthday. I know how much he loves turtles and I hope this will make him smile. They just purchased a cottage couple of months ago which is not too far from the turtle crossing zone.
