Turtles by

Turtle – is one of the oldest and most sacred species, symbolizing longevity, wisdom and courage. The turtle shell, which was used as a calendar by the ancient, with the thirteen large squares counting out all the full moons of the year, the 28 small squares on the outside count the days of each lunar month.

I created this piece for a special friend’s birthday. I know how much he loves turtles and I hope this will make him smile. They just purchased a cottage couple of months ago which is not too far from the turtle crossing zone. They are both very special to me along with their boy who I watch after school and have grown to love! Thanks for stopping by. Cheers!

    Fabulous composite and texturising Janette

  • Thank you BOB! I appreciate your feedback… compare to the original it’s a piece of art to me anyways. The original looked worn, faded and undeveloped.

I’m sure he must be very proud of this special and thoughtful gift, as you should be. It’s beautifully done, Janette. xx

  • He did like the piece very much. I was so glad to see that as I don’t give my art as gifts often enough, perhaps it’s the confidence thing. I worked many hours on this one & would gladly hang it in my home, so that’s how I know it’s good enough I think. Thanks so much Jill.
