As you approach the charming old village of Lija, Malta, you pass by this belvedere, locally known as “It-Torri Ta’ Hal-Lija”. It was once in the centre of a large orange garden, forming part of Villa Gourgion, property of the Depiro family. The belvedere was built in 1857, and in 1956 road works and property developments left it isolated in the middle of a street. This historical monument was extensively restored in 1995.
