Loch An Eilein is situated in the council area of Badenoch and Strathspey, Scotland. The loch sits on the Rothiemurchus estate, about 5 km south of Aviemore. The name Loch an Eilein is Gaelic for ‘loch of the island’. This is because in the middle of the Loch is a small island on which are the ruins of a castle.
