    I love the way you set that lone ruin off-center. The low clouds to the left add to the interest and make this a compelling photo.

    This turned out beautifully. I find that I would rather shoot in color and change to BW than shoot in BW. Silver Efex works well and I use it to test the most interesting images that I take. This composition has a feeling of desolation and the light (sun?) sets a surreal atmosphere. I think this is a real beauty. BW just has a way of portraying an emotion or feeling in a way that some color compositions cannot.

  • Hi Kathy. Like you, I prefer to shoot in color and convert to B&W later. This gives me more options. The dark sky is due to the polarizing filter, which turned the sky to a dark blue. I am pleased with the final image, I think its very effective. Thanks a lot for your discerning comments.
