Looking up the mountain side I saw the cloud cover dropping fast. We were still a couple of kilometres from the refuge and if that cloud hits us we’re in trouble. Hastening our pace we treaded the narrow path by the river. Stealing a look over my shoulder I saw this awesome site. Surely I can spare a few seconds to take a photo. Then I heard Nicole’s angry shout, “Alex, drop that bloody camera and move your a**!”

Photo was taken while hiking in the Austrian Alps. I cropped off the top third of this image as it was practically all white.

Bravu siehbi…..ritratt tal-genn. This is a wonderful capture my friend….I can almost hear the noise of the water splashing against the stones and rocks as it steadily gains momentum and races downhill. Excellent picture and writing.

  • Glad you like it, Tony. Grazzi hafna.

Awesome photo, so beautiful! I’d also love to see one with more white to get an idea of the grand scale, if you wanted to put one up! It is so different to here, thanks for sharing!!!

  • Hi Catherine. I cropped off the cloud simply because there was nothing to see in it. To give you an idea what it looks like, see this photo. Here you can see the grey cloud (grey because its in the shaded part of the mountain) sliding down the mountain side. The white part of the image is the same cloud, but with the sun shining on it. Due to that white washout, that photo should never have been exhibited. Many thanks for your comments and visit.

I’m glad you did stop because you’ve managed to get a very atmospheric shot. And i’m glad you didn’t drop the camera and i bet so are you!

  • Hi Mike, I am sure she didn’t mean that literally. But she was very concerned about our precarious situation. Yes, I am glad I managed to pull this one off, maybe with a bit of luck too. Thanks a lot for the comments.

Some photos are worth the risk and this is one of them. Glad you and Nicole made it through. :)

  • Hi Kathy. There were four of us on that trip. Nicole was the most experienced and familiar with the area. As group leader she was concerned for our safety, but we made it without mishaps. Yes, some photos are worth the risk, hopefully my risk only! Many thanks for your kind comments.
