Along Came a Spider by Wviolet28

Nikkor 70-300mm

I have to admit, I was scared when I shot her…. we had a love/hate relationship that lasted over a few months. There were times I would go out to the flower bed and see her all puffed up — larger than the day before — but I noticed near her were her eggs sacs… they were so large — the size of golf balls — I realized she must have a mate somewhere. After looking around for a bit, it was my son who found him… he was clear on the other side of the bed — he was hiding in the yellow flowers and we almost missed him — he is posted with the other photos in my portfolio — he also had only 6 legs and it was noticeable — we wondered if she had anything to do with that…nonetheless… each day when we checked on her, she had another sac …. ended up being 3 sacs in all. Sadly, I never got to see the sacs burst….I do have a photo of her sacs but it is not high quality so I never posted it here. When deep fall came that year, she and her mate disappeared. I have never seen them again.
