Artist's Description

During our holiday in Gran Canaria last February, we made a trip to our favourite beach, Playa de Tasarte.
En route we visited Mogán, a beautiful village in the inlands. The church, called Iglesia de San Antonio de Padua is well worth a visit, so I did!

The church of San Antonio de Padua was built in 1813 at the request of an Canarian immigrant, having 2000 pesos per year in his testament intended for Masses for his soul in the future parish. Currently, the church contains images of great value – the Sepulchre of Christ, the Immaculate and Sorrowful Mother. The altar is decorated with arches and columns and white gold. On June 13 they celebrate the festival of the parish.

Inside the church I saw this artwork, that portrays the 9th station of the Via Crucis (Way of the Cross): Christ falling for the third time… Don’t know the name of the artist.
