Washington & Oregon lie at the same latitudes as the wine regions ofEurope. The wine industry’s growth in the 1980s & 90s prompted this map. It took a year-and-a-half for the research and about six months of design and execution. I wanted to educate the viewer with all the aspects of wine-making; soil, climate, fermentation, etc. All my maps are encyclopedic and meant to give a well-rounded overview of the subject. Washington State has wineries all over the state, but the grapes are all grown in the Eastern part of the state, where the grapes are happiest.
