Fields Of Gold

William Brennan

Rockaway, United States

Artist's Description

Adult Clouded Sulphurs drink nectar from many different flowers, including: clovers, milkweeds, goldenrods, asters, dandelions, thistles, and sunflowers. They also get moisture from puddles of water, mud, and animal feces. You will often see many sulphurs together collecting moisture. This is called “puddling.” This beauty was perusing the newly bloomed goldenrod and posed quite nicely for me. This was taken on the shore of Lake Telemark in Rockaway, NJ USA. I used the Nikon D3100 and 85mm macro lens.
