Artist's Description

Hummingbirds can hover in mid-air by rapidly flapping their wings 12–90 times per second (depending on the species). They are also the only group of birds able to fly backwards. This female ruby-throated hummingbird was checking out a feeder hanging outside the local bar in Rockaway, NJ USA. I captured this beauty with my Nikon D3100 and the Nikon 70-300mm zoom lens.
