This is the cover photo of my calendar Dynamite Dragonflies: The Sequel

The Halloween Pennant dragonfly is the largest, most widely distributed, and perhaps most colorful small pennant species. Its common name is descriptive because of its distinctive orange and brown or black wings. It perches uniquely, with the fore and hindwings in different planes. The forewings are held somewhat vertically and the hindwings horizontally (as you can see). I find these little beauties regularly in my yard in Rockaway, NJ. I took this with a Nikon D3100 and the Nikon 85mm macro lens.

Please view it LARGER. =)

I’ve always appreciated nature, but I didn’t show interest in photography until digital started to come into it’s own. I had many cheap cameras over the years, but when I got the Nikon D3100 for my birthday last year, I really started to realize what photography was all about. I’ve had such a blast learning on the go over the past 10 months. I’ve gotten shots that I could have only dreamed of a year ago. I hope you all enjoy my photos, and by all means, BUY SOMETHING! =)
