Cottontail rabbits seek out habitat on the fringes of open spaces, such as fields, meadows, and farms, but can adapt to other habitats—including those of humans. During the day, cottontails often remain hidden in vegetation. If spotted, they flee from prey with a zigzag pattern, sometimes reaching speeds of up to 18 miles (29 kilometers) an hour. Thankfully, this little guy felt like feeding during the day and was quite cooperative providing I kept a discreet distance (around 10 feet or so). I took this in my back yard I Rockaway, NJ. I used my Nikon D3100 digital camera with a 70-300mm zoom lens.

I’ve always appreciated nature, but I didn’t show interest in photography until digital started to come into it’s own. I had many cheap cameras over the years, but when I got the Nikon D3100 for my birthday last year, I really started to realize what photography was all about. I’ve had such a blast learning on the go over the past 10 months. I’ve gotten shots that I could have only dreamed of a year ago. I hope you all enjoy my photos, and by all means, BUY SOMETHING! =)
