An American Black Duck in the early morning sunlight. by

I took this picture at Point Sebago Resort in Casco, Maine. This pond is only a stone’s throw away from Sebago Lake’s Big Bay. Sebago Lake is the second largest lake in Maine and is also the deepest at well over 300 feet at it’s deepest. I wasn’t sure if these were black ducks or mallards at first, but in my three visits here I have yet to see a mallard drake with their signature green head. These are wild ducks, but they are very accustomed to humans being near so they were very easy to photograph. They were a joy to visit every morning before I started my daily vacation activities. :)

I’ve always appreciated nature, but I didn’t show interest in photography until digital started to come into it’s own. I had many cheap cameras over the years, but when I got the Nikon D3100 for my birthday last year, I really started to realize what photography was all about. I’ve had such a blast learning on the go over the past 10 months. I’ve gotten shots that I could have only dreamed of a year ago. I hope you all enjoy my photos, and by all means, BUY SOMETHING! =)
