Carolina wrens are surprisingly loud for such a little bird. Their “tea-kettle, tea-kettle, tea-kettle” call is very easily recognized. They are the second largest species of wren behind the cactus wren. This little guy got all worked up after I played his call on my portable stereo. He landed on top of my woodpecker feeder and hopped around and called back for quite a while. I was no farther than a few feet from him the whole time. This pic was taken on my woodpecker feeder in Rockaway, NJ. I took this with a Kodak Z712 IS.
