My name is wayne, hi everybody! I have always been creative in some sort of way,for as long as I can remember. Actually my mum said that before I started at school, I used to be busy in the backyard setting up an easle,I never did any painting, I just liked setting it up! I played guitar for many years(accuostic) and wrote a few songs of my own. While I was single I lived in a tiny flat near Melbourne CBD, and spent all my time drawing, mostly op art, sadly nearly all those drawing are either given away or lost somewhere over the years, but I still have a couple in my studio somewhere. In 1980 I was married, have 4 beautiful children, (Bree 25,Tarni 22, Jack 20, Ester 16)and my wife julie, who I love more and more everyday. We have been togeather over 30 yrs now.Julie is my greatest critic as far as my creativity is concerned. After we built our home 24yrs ago,in the foothills of “Arthurs Seat” in South Rosebud, on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, about a one hour drive south of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, I began making furniture from recycled timber, and sold it at the local craft markets,of which we have many down here. This was a great outlet for my creativity, and I was able to make a decent quid as well.
This went on for quite a few years until ,sadly, I had to have major surgery on my spine, for a back problem I suffered in an accident when I worked for the local ports and harbours for a short time. This meant no more heavy lifting,so I had to give up my furniture business.
Which brings me to the present day.My wife and I, along with our 2 eldest daughters bought a general store in Rosebud, which we have been running for about 18months.
My time standing behind a counter is limited, so, I paint.
I have a nice little studio, which has such a nice cosy feel to it.
Big windows looking out over our beautiful garden that Julie has created, my old guitar hangs on the wall, and I have a little bed in there, just in case I paint until the early hours of the morning(which is more often than not)and dont want to disturb Julies slumber, I drift off to sleep, staring at my lastest work on the easle. I love it.
I have a love for mushroom houses and little fantasy worlds, full of flowers, colourful plants and butterflies etc.
I also love to paint surrealism, and LOVE Salvador Dali’s work. But mostly I get commisions for the botanical mushroom house paintings. A lot of my work is done by using a magnifying glass as they are very detailed, which doesnt show much of in the photos.
I hope you enjoy my work I post on your site, a lot of my works are sold off the easle, so I dont get much of a chance to display my paintings to the public, but now I can, through
your site, thankyou so much for this opportunity.
