Qantas Airlines: Repair Division

What makes these even funnier is that they are real!!

In case you need a laugh: Remember, it takes a college degree to fly a plane but only a high school diploma to fix one.

After every flight, Qantas pilots fill out a form, called a ‘Gripe Sheet’ which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft.
The mechanics correct the problems; document their repairs on the form, and then pilots review the Gripe Sheets before the next flight.

Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humour.
Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by Qantas’ pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded (marked with an S) by maintenance engineers.

P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.
S: Almost replaced left inside main tire.

P: Test flight OK, except …

Is HDR ruining photography?

Found this on another site it is very interesting, the writter is Dave

Hi all,

I ask the question, Is HDR ruining photography? Not as a gripe or any dislike of HDR, in fact I am quite sold on HDR, if not fully addicted to it, and that is the problem.

Where once I took images in sinlge shots, now I always take three, just so I have the option of HDR processing them if I want to.

Why not combine the two methods I hear you say, but what if I get a single shot that I am pleased with, but yet at the back of my mind I know it would have been so much better with HDR. Where once I was happy, now I am not so happy.

Make three shots from one RAW then, but again, not as good as the full dynamic range available from three shots, so again, less happy.

So now I go on holiday and instead rattling off a…

Do you need criticism Yes Or No

Please I would appreciate criticism on my work as I think everyone finds it hard to take criticism at first, meaning as soon as you read it. But I have learned to sit back an analyze their comment and found that most of the times, they only make us better by showing us a way of taking the same shot differently thru someone else eye. So please go ahead and tell why you like or don’t like it..

Please read this "Letter from Zimbabwe"

Letter from Zimbabwe

I reckon that these are the last days of TKM and ZPF. The darkest hour is always before dawn.

We are all terrified at what they are going to destroy next……..I mean they are actually ploughing down brick and mortar houses and one white family with twin boys of 10 had no chance of salvaging anything when100 riot police came in with AK47’s and bulldozers and demolished their beautiful house – 5 bedrooms and pine ceilings – because it was ‘too close to the airport’, so we are feeling extremely insecure right now.

You know – I am aware that this does not help you sleep at night, but if you do not know – how can you help? Even if you put us in your own mental ring of light and send your guardian angels to be wit…

Darling Harbour Sydney

Thanks for featuring my image. The story on this is that I hardly ever move without a camera and on this day I was taken to Darling Harbour after a day at work by 2 work mates.

This was about 6 month ago and while sitting in a beer garden /Pub at about 6pm I looked up and this scene was just there, the lighting was magic and over the beers on the table I hit the button.
So thanks to the 260 viewers and 35 that made comments I am on the feature page.

I have a few more taken on that evening., have a look.

Thanks again.

I want to share this with all of you.about South Africa.

By Dave Knowles, Headmaster of St Stithians in Johannesburg

I wanted to spend some time with you today reflecting on the last two or three months we have experienced as a nation. Some commentators have called this the “post-Polokwane Syndrome”, after the events at the ANC National Conference in December, the outcome of which many have seen as negative.

Added to this negative feeling, has been the electricity crisis, now seen as a result of poor planning by the state and acknowledged as such by President Mbeki in his State of the Nation address in Parliament, where he apologised to the nation.

Also knocking us have been higher world oil prices; higher interest rates in SA and the start of a world-wide recession, particularly in the UK and the US with their major housing crisis. Added to t…
