Lovely image, William. Just out of curiosity, have you considered duplicating this and cropping the sun out of the image? This is not a criticism; I was simply wondering how the image would look with emphasis solely on the two beautiful sandhills. Wonderful image!

  • William C. Gla... replied

    Hello whalegeek,
Thank you for the kinds words…I have lots of other images of sandhills at sunset without the sun, just haven’t uploaded the best one yet. However, this is the best image I have with the sun, and for me, it adds interest and balance to the birds, trees, and contrast for the darker side of this image…especially since the second sandhill is transitioning from darkness into the lighter side of the image where the sun lives :-)

Hey, William. I think you did a fine job of metering with such a difficult contrast between darkness and light in this image. Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

It is a brilliant image, it is beautiful!! I love the soft silhouette of the Sandhill Cranes. They are enormous graceful birds and I can only imagine how magical this moment must have been for you!!

  • William C. Gla... replied

Thank you Sharon and thanks for adding this to your favorites…oh, magical is right…in addition to the visual experience one gets to hear thousands of sandhill cranes calling out as they come in to roost at night during the migration :-)
