Artist's Description

Britain’s tallest piece of public art, the Orbit, is situated in London’s Olympic Park, London. I took this photograph during the Olympics, in August 2012. Although the Orbit is mostly red, I preferred this image in monochrome; and although its height and the views from the top are impressive, I preferred this foreshortened view from close in and underneath.
Circles, angles and engineering challenges realised. The structure was designed by Anish Kapoor and Cecil Balmond, of the engineering group Arup.
