The slithering of forked tongues

I sit here with my mind afloat
wrapped in the thievery that you call honesty
I am not willing to bend on knee to you
I am not willing to compromise ideals

You lay out your words on thin veils
masked with lies, designed to inflict fear
promises slipped from a forked tongue
never meant to be kept.

You peddle your stolen ideas
and let the minions carry forth your plan
like little sheep brought to the slaughter
they see you as a god, and not for what you really are.

They mimic your slithering forked tongue
pretending no lies have passed their ears
all in the good of self righteous preservation
until the hammer hangs heavy over weightless guilt

I will rise above your heavy hand
and wash away the threats you hide
Never will I fall silent, oppressed
while you spread wings and flutter filth

I am but a simple man, humbled in my frailty
drawn down a path straight and narrow
to those who sit quiet on idle hands
my way may be a lost cause, but it is earnest

So be gone you whore
changed by those who puppet your strings
excuse yourself from my sight in haste
and hide your shame in self bolstered works.

For my wrath shall be worn in silence
not laid out in quickened decisive pace
but like that of a creeping ivy that wanders
to and fro, strangling all where it lays.
