Orange Featherstone by WoolleyWorld
Clear

Grant Featherstone was a great designer …I particularly love his furniture. I have owned and drawn this chair over many years…
This drawing was for an animation back ground. (a long 360 degree room interior)
Eventually gave the “orange chair” to a friend (Len) who has restored it..(poor things insides were broken)
Pastel on rag paper. 100×65cm

absolutely fantastic depiction of the Ultimate chair the R160 Contour..! I own the footstool that went with it , and have alwasy lusted after the chair..this is a gorgeous image..!!

  • Ah Ha! a Featherstone fan…you know its “name”…..unfortunately they are so expensive to buy now…this one was given to me …previously, it lived on a verandah and was the house pet’s favourite chair…yikes. (thanks for dropping by and your kind words artache)

These designs considered “outrageous” at the time have become such classics…
…so happy you found someone who would restore it! The stuffing will go first, but the frame and style truly is timeless. And in orange, too : o my kat!

Is the little shadow figure in the back part of another set design?

  • Hi Tizner..it did hurt a little to give it away (sob) but it was for its own good….Agree with your comments about “timelessness”…a true indication of great design..
and yes, that is a dolls shadow in the backround….part of a planned 360 degree drawing
