increadible shot. the craquelure of the dried up lakebed makes an awesome FG. i think we need an X-Files investigation into the mysterious movement of the rock! bravo.
Bree Tipton
is the ground shifting or the rocks moving? great shot!!!! cheers

Love this simplicity of this image
coffeetea
awesome!! what are these …...never mind.

I’ve seen this on a recent documentary about Death Valley. There’s still some mystery as to what makes those heavy rocks move by themselves. Great perspective.
Heather Davies
brilliant image!!

Very cool, and the B&W really brings it together. Well done!
Jake Easley
Huge thanks for all the great feedback and comments!!!
This is such an interesting place. What’s really unique, that you don’t get to see unless you’re there, is that they don’t all move in one direction. Sometimes, one rock will move over 100 feet in multiple directions! And they’re not little pebbles either. This rock was probably close to 60 pounds based on it’s size.

I knew nothing of this place until I read all the comment… I thought you had moved the rock and thought that was awesome as it created such a powerful shot – so the rocks move themselves?.... wow I’d like to know more about this place.
Anyhow, love the B7W superb tones you have here and the shot is sublime

Thanks for the memory… I had forgotten that I had watched a documentary on this weird phenomena some time ago. You’re right, I think the best way to appreciate it would be to go there in person, but you win the prize for bringing the feel of it to a still life photo. Perfect.

great shot, love the trail left behind, good low view point
