This is a American Goldfinch, trying desperately to hold on this this icicle, and as you can see I took this photo just as he was giving up and starting to fly off, thus the blur of his wings starting to unfold.
It is still very cold Winter here in Kentucky but I see the promise of Spring every day as these tiny male yellow finches start to regain their brilliant yellow and black colors for just in time to impress the ladies.
I took this photo with my Minolta 5D DSLR with a 135mm lens.

    what a great shot. i love the finches, but in minnesota we won’t see brighter colors for a while yet.
