"Moon Over Kentucky"

This photo was shot with my Minolta Maxxum 5D 315mm F13 1/250 with ISO 400.
I was ready for the Full Moon tonight. It has been raining off and on and cloudy here for the last couple of days. So I was hoping to get some shots with clouds in the sky along with the Full Moon. When I pulled up and parked it was still daylight and the Moon was barely visible with only one tiny cloud in the sky close to the Moon. Nothing to get excited about. It didn’t take long for the sky to change however. At first the Moon was very light with almost no color, kind of white to pale yellow. Then things started to change very fast as more and more clouds started to show up, at some times even completely covering the Moon. I thought well Quap! I drove all the way in town and have been sitting here for over an hour and now the darn thing is going to be all covered up. Then some of the clouds started to let the Moon show itself. I quickly called a friend of mine on my cell phone that lives about 80 miles away in Louisville. I told him that the moon was the most beautiful color and he better get outside and try and photo it while he can. He has a nice 500mm lens that translates into a 750mm on his Sony A 700. He said thanks for calling and he would check it out. Then the color of the moon and sky turned the most beautiful, if not strange color, I have seen, I did not change the color at all in this photo. I took so many photos tonight you can’t believe, but this was my favorite.
I have a Minolta Maxxum 7000 35mm that I bought in 1985 but because of the cost of film and printing I had not used for years and started with digital about 7 years ago. I feel like I have forgotten most of what I knew back then. I have a whole system of lenses and filters for that camera and only just found out that I can use all of my lenses on the Minolta two DSLRs or any of the Sony Alpha digital SLRs so I am very lucky that a friend of mine (the friend I called tonight to tell about the Full Moon) gave me this Minolta 5D about 3 weeks ago.
