1980/1 Ford Cortina Mk5 by

New company car, W reg.
This was a brand new car and on it’s 1st service they discovered that it had a cracked engine block.
So in workshop for a few days while they stripped it down and fitted a new bolck.

My main interest is painting Aviation Art.
I get a lot of enjoyment researching the historical background behind the picture I’ve been commissioned to paint.
I work in acrylic on my big paintings on canvas board but use water colors, pastels, soft and oil, for smaller pieces.
I also enjoy doing pet portraits in soft pastels on tinted paper, from photographs. Ideal presents for Xmas and birthdays.

Wow! A mark V (5) Neil 1600cc Pinto engine probably. One of the last ones to built although they were still selling them new of the forecourts for another couple of years. I had a Crusader estate version as I’ve said .. i loved it.. wish i still had it .. i was due to drive over to Crufts with her and got wrote off by a ‘lady’ in a pig iron Yugo! Over 2 million Cortinas in various shapes and forms were sold in Britain.. the 2nd most popular car.

  • Thanks for info,
Yes, the Cortina was a very popular car, they had bags of room in them.
    Cheers neil

I owned one of these, great car apart from the rust which destroyed it in the end.
