Currently unavailable for purchase

1944, 101 sqdn Lancaster “G” George, on the pan when the NAAFI van arrives with tea and wads (and Woodbines cigarettes, if the haven’t sold out their ration)
I did this as a raffle prize. George, the winner was ground crew during the war.
NAAFI stands for Navy, Army, Air Force Institutes, British Forces canteen and shop the same as the USA PX.
Acrylic on canvas board, 14″ × 20″ 1997

My main interest is painting Aviation Art.
I get a lot of enjoyment researching the historical background behind the picture I’ve been commissioned to paint.
I work in acrylic on my big paintings on canvas board but use water colors, pastels, soft and oil, for smaller pieces.
I also enjoy doing pet portraits in soft pastels on tinted paper, from photographs. Ideal presents for Xmas and birthdays.

You keep coming up with these treasures Woodie. Maybe Redbubble will start an aviation group as there seems to be a lot of interest – not least in the stories behind the scenes.
    Another winner.

these are wonderful paintings you do. my father was a bombadier in the army air corps. in ww2. most of his missions were flown in the old large bomber, i guess much like this. i use to have the keys [or pins ]to bombs and tag telling where they were dropped. i father’s 2nd wife had all this and more, lost now i guess. beautiful work. db
