Flying over RAF Millfield airfield near Wooler in Northumberland in 1945.
This was painted for an ex-Lancaster flight engineer, who after resting from ops, was put onto target towing as a winch operator in the rear seat.

My main interest is painting Aviation Art.
I get a lot of enjoyment researching the historical background behind the picture I’ve been commissioned to paint.
I work in acrylic on my big paintings on canvas board but use water colors, pastels, soft and oil, for smaller pieces.
I also enjoy doing pet portraits in soft pastels on tinted paper, from photographs. Ideal presents for Xmas and birthdays.

    This has got to be about your best one yet Woodie. It’s excellent in all aspects; detail of the plane,ground features, clouds and colour balance. Definately a favourite.

    I love this woodie its perfect and you were right about the lancaster bombing over the dewernt vally dams its were there practiced the bouncing bomb i did get a few pics from there of different aircraft i uploaded two more and wil be putting more on soon take care and thanks for your comments the lancaster is a part of history to remember isn’t she? x The vulcan will soon be back in the skies too real excited about that?
