HMS Beagle, Darwin's Ship (New photo)
This is a new higher res. shot of my painting of HMS Beagle from the BBC programme on Charles Darwin’s “Round the world voyage” 1831-1836
Acrylic on canvas board. 20”x18” 1979
The “Marques” 117 feet long square rigger, sunk in 45 seconds, off Burmuda, in The Tall Ships Race, 4th June 1984, with the loss of 19 lives.
Built in 1917, a a fruit trader, and rigged as a 3 mastered bargue in 1977.
