Original painting presented by the RAFBEA, to CO of RAF Cosford on the 50th anniversary,(1997) of the the return of Boy Entrants to the RAF. The aircraft depicted were all front line aircraft during the time of our training. Pre War boys made up a lot of the aircrews in the early years of the war. Boys were air gunners, wireless operators while the Aircraft Apprentices were the pilots and navigators.

Thanks guys. Over 200 prints of this has been sold to raise funds for RAF associated charities.
but that is only 10% of our membership. Maybe the print size was too big for today’s walls in the home. ideal for office and clubs. The Xmas Cards sold very well.

This must have taken hours of planning before you even picked up a brush … great work.
Woodie replied
I was just told to put the badge in the centre and have some hairyplanes flying round it. I just researched/developed the rest.

Superb piece of work, Neil. I used to have airfix plastic versions of these pinned by thread from the bedroom ceiling, when I was a kid!
Did you paint all these planes individually? Fantastic acrylic painting!
Woodie replied
thanks Colin,
This was the only time I’ve painted these a/c in these attitudes/markings except for the Mossie!
These were front line a/c 1947 -65.

IT’S GOOD TO SEE SOMEONE HONORING SO MANY MEMBERS FOR SUCH AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. I DID FAVORITE THIS ONE. BOB
Woodie replied
We still have yearly reunions for everyone and smaller ones for either, trades, entries or training stations. We had different coloured checked bands around our peaked (best blue) caps to show different training stations and trades.

Some of my old favourites here! Love the Vampire and Mosquito. Had a Model of a Lightning when I was younger. I am pretty sure they could have extra fuel tanks atop the wings. Australia had quite a few of these aeroplanes.
Woodie replied
Yes I’m sure as well the Lightning had extra fuel tanks on top of the wings but I couldn’t show them here. thanks for looking and favouring.
cheers Neil
