Nikon D80, Nikkor AF-S DX EE 18-200mm VR lens… Auto

The Northrop Pioneer was built as a 40-passenger commercial transport aircraft, powered by three 800 hp (596 kW) Wright R-957 Cyclone engines. From it was developed the C-125 Raider for the USAF, 23 of which were built with 1,200 hp (894 kW) Wright R-1820-99 engines: 13 as C-125A assault transports and ten as C-125B Arctic rescue aircraft. A small number of these ‘Raider’ aircraft were released to the U.S. Forest Service as ‘Smoke Jumper’ transports

Excellent! You captured the essence of this wonderful old beast! This particular Raider is YC-125B 48-626, and has been painted as the cold weather test machine 48-622. Did you take this at the National Museum of the USAF in Dayton?

  • Colin, Thank you for your comment and the additional info on this aircraft! You nailed it taken July 24 – 29 2007 at the museum,,, 60th Anniversary of the USAF.
