This is a Model 749 Constellation, fore-runner of the Model 1049 Super Constellation which was stretched some 20 ft. (6 m) and powered by turbo-charged engines, the " Super G" was the biggest and fastest airliner of its time. The ultimate Connie was the L-1649 Starliner, but was a late on the scene to challenge the Douglas DC-7C “Seven Seas”. However, both were soon made obslate by the new jets.
