Enough Sorrow For Today

I saw a frail young woman meet the Lord in the middle of the night,
Her mother tenderly holding her in her arms, as she gave up the fight.

There are no words to say what I was thinking of
Her frail body, ravaged by cancer, well she had suffered enough.

I held a frightened animal as he was euthanized.
The abuse of him was apparent as I looked into his eyes.

There are no words to say what I was thinking of.
As he entered into his rest, I stroked his head with love.

I led my horse outside of the barn to prepare her there to die.
I saw that she had given up as I looked into her eyes.

There are no words to say what I was thinking of.
As the needle slipped into her vein, I told her of my love.

Sometimes the loss I feel is too painful to think about.
Sometimes the loss I feel makes me want to scream and shout.

There are no words to say, what I am thinking of…
Sometimes I need the comfort that can only come from Heaven above.
