Siberian Husky Commission by Catherine Howell

Currently unavailable for purchase

I was asked to create a necklace of this beautiful, 11 year old Siberian Husky. His name is “Strider.” His dear human, Virginia, told me tonight that he has lupus! He is doing well on meds.

I made a pin, a necklace and put one of the reduced drawings under a 2 inch glass round.

The drawing in this photo is the original and is in a sleeve.

On the backs of the jewelry pieces I added handmade paper and it looks beautiful glazed on the wood.

If you have an interest to have your pet, horse, or favorite animal or bird on a piece of jewelry, I’d be happy to answer any questions.

I consider myself an emerging artist, though I’ve been creating since childhood. My favorite subjects are animals and my work is design oriented.

My passions in life include God, Family, Art, Singing, Poetry, Photography, Horses, Wolves and Wolf Dogs.

Thank you so much for taking the time to view my work!

Wow Catherine that looks so cool- beautiful drawing and a unique and wonderful keepsake- lovely xx

  • Hi Anita:))) Thank you so much! The only thing I’m frustrated about is that even though I kept the drawing light, the reduced pieces are to saturated. I have tolearn how to edit, better. I appreciate your kind comments:)))

    Love the jewelry pieces, Catherine!
How are you making the reductions? If it’s digital, I may have a couple pointers on controlling saturation, tho a lot of the time it’s just trial and error. (some of my RB pieces look so different when I upload them I end up making more adjustments to them afterwards)

  • Thanks so very much, Stephanie:))) Yes, it is digital. I upload them to my computer and then edit the image. It seems when you reduce the image to very small, the colors are too saturated.

stunning, Catherine! … yes, scans/photos of originals need to be touched up most of the time, even when they’re not being reduced. Usually I up the brightness/contrast by 5-10%, and add a 50-75% sharpness mask to reductions. They go fuzzy – or blotchy) and the sharpening brings back the detail. Got to be careful not to overdo it though. As Steph said, trial and error.

  • Hi Barbara:))) Thank you very much for your kind words and also for the tips:))) I appreciate it so much!
