“Paradise” has had 971 views and 56 favoritings. Thank you for your interest. This is one of my favorite pieces.

The image size is 14 × 18 inches. I used archival ink and derwent graphitint watercolor pencils.

This is drawn on illustration board and took many hours. I completed the border over a year ago and could not decide what I wanted to put in the middle. I was originally going to call this drawing “If I Could Help Design An Antelope” but as I finished it I decided that it had an old world feeling to it and the name “Paradise” seemed to fit.

I have been drawing exotic borders since high school. I lightly pencil in the whole border, freehand, and then fill in the design with archival ink. I usually create the border first and then decide what I want to create to go with it.

you will not see this species anywhere as I dreamed it up:)

Any proceeds from the sale of cards from RB will be donated to The Philadelphia Mission. You may view their contact info. on my front page.

Thanks for looking!!

WOW- Is this the work you were tellling me about. Its absolutely stunning, such goergeous tones and detail, love what you’ve done with the border xxxx

  • This is not the one, Anita. I am in the process of finishing that one, now. Though, I am going to make prints of this one, too, as soon as I get it properly scanned.

I did draw this one on a piece of off-white board.

Thanks very much for leaving such nice comments!

Grand! I love your older frames – good thing you didn’t lose them!!! All the details integrated into them, and the ‘hidden’ bits … lovely work!!

  • Thanks very much, Barbara!! As the years have gone by, I started adding different items in the borders. I think they add something…a different dimension?

I really appreciate your wonderful comments!

Don’t know what I’d do without you and Anita here, on RB:)

Oh my!! This is truly stunning. Beautiful details, I really love your border work, so detailed and textural, makes me want to reach out and touch it!

  • Hi Alexandra!! Thank you SO much for your sweet comments:) It encourages me to keep on creating what I love. Sometimes, I finish one of these drawings with the border and I wonder if they’re really any good, But I make the decision to keep creating what is inside and I decide to not fret about it. Maybe sometimes it’s the letdown after the excitement of designing something, working on it, and then finishing it. I’m going on…sorry!

    Thanks, Alexandra:)
