UPDATE!!!! Please check out my Zazzle store at: www.zazzle.com/catherinehowell*. I am adding products daily.

My name is Catherine M. Howell. I have been creating art for as long as I can remember. I have no formal training except the experiences of life. I want to share the ideas and visions that are inside of my heart and mind. I want to thank you in advance for viewing my portfolio. Most of the originals in my portfolio are for sale. Part of the proceeds go to “The Philadelphia Mission” and a part of the proceeds are designated for “Wolves.” Trevor Irwin is the founder of The Philadelphia Mission and he ministers to the forgotten people of the remotest areas of Nigeria. My other passion is the wolf and as some people are trying to again wipe them from the face of the earth, I am trying to help their cause. I am currently writing and illustrating a book called “Wolf Song.” It is an ongoing project that will most likely take another year to complete. Part of the proceeds will go to wolves and some will go to The Philadelphia Mission, “www.philadelphia33.org.”;

I create design-oriented artwork of animals and birds, trees and nature. My work is my interpretation of the subjects that I create. I believe in artistic license.

The borders that you see on some of my work take many hours to complete. I first draw the border freehand and each border takes on its own look and personality. I then fill in the design with archival ink. I started drawing exotic borders years ago when I was in high school.

Colored pencils of all types, fascinate me. I also use archival grade ink which consists of Rapidograph Technical Pens and/or Micron Pigma Pens. The colored pencils that I use are Prismacolors, Faber Castell Polychromos, Derwent Coloursoft Pencils. I also use Karat Aquarelle, and Faber Castell watercolor pencils. Once in a while I also do some dry brush watercolor painting.

Another media that I love: ‘art markers!’ You can get such incredible layering presentations with markers.

I also recently started cutting lino again and have limited edition, hand pulled prints available.

All of my originals are for sale. Please view my linocuts and new “inchie” drawings!

The above inchie trio with a linocut border that I cut and printed was sold for 55.00 US. I am accepting commissions for inchie drawings.

At this present time you may view my new rubber art stamps at www.catherinehowell.etsy.com. I had these original, whimsical stamps produced from my original pen and ink drawings.

Thanks for looking!!

Love

Love / Is a misused word, / Conjuring up feelings / That should never go away, / Right? Wrong! / Love / Is a decision to act / when we’d rather not / And stay, / When we’d rather run away. / Love / Is something we choose to do / When we don’t think we can, / And even when we are hurt, / Be willing to lend a hand. / Love / Compels us to act, / To give, to believe, / To hope, to forgive / Instea…

Wolf Conservation Stamp Contest

I received a wonderful phone call, today. Four days before the deadline I created a design for the Wolf Conservation Stamp Contest. We overnighted the drawing so it would arrive before the deadline. I am so thankful and grateful to have my work chosen:…
