For those not familiar with this one design class, here’s a little background.
The eight meter class is over 100 years old and the 8 meter designation does not refer to the length (they are over 40Ft. – 12 meters long), but a complex formula of length, width, sail area, etc. The oldest boat in this years championship was Jackeen, built in 1928. and the newest was Natural. Gefion was the only glass boat the rest are all wood.
I love these boats and you can’t take a bad shoot of any of them.

    Thanks for the explanation… what ever they are, these wonders are just that. This is a magnificent image; makes a striking poster! We are a wooden boat family… love to see these in action.

  • The boats are truly a feast for the eyes and it is difficult to take a bad shot of them. They beautiful but expensive to own and maintain, especially if consider tat they are a racing boat with little creature comfort, and require an experience crew … not a day sailor.
