Another collage made with fractalets created in Apo 2.08 3D Hack. The pyramid itself is one fractal. The landscape (flower things) and the artifacts and detail items inside the pyramid are separate individual fractals. You need to view this on full size to see things well. The moon and sky are from photos of a sunset I took around my home and fiddled with in Photoshop. The bright crescent part of the moon is the photo, the back end of the moon was created in Photoshop.

This looked like some ancient alien pyramid rising up on some far away world. Look closely inside for alien artifacts, left behind by an ancient alien race.

UPDATE 05-12-10 – This won 2nd place in the"Triangles" Challenge held by Art in Math Thank you so much to all that voted for this fractal collage.

I am a recent fractal artist, just since 2008. I have fallen in love with this type of art because of the infinite variety of form, fabulous colors and great lighting effects that can be achieved. The software is mostly free and I dabble with most of them. If you enjoy fractal art, please take a look at my gallery. I would be thrilled if you stop by and say “Hi” and make a comment (or not)!

    Lovely image.
I like the term ‘Fractalets’ very apt.
I used to do stuff like this, there was some on dA, however I deleted it all now. I still have the images somewhere as i am fastidious about backing stuff up. However I can’t find them…

  • Thank you, Roz! Yeah, fractalets seemed to be an appropriate term for those little items that seem to pop up as isolated doodads that I find useful for collages. Easy to isolate, manipulate, and make into part of a bigger picture. I’m working on another now, but it’s taking me some time. There are some things about it that I’m not happy about. But, it’s getting there.

This is brilliant, you are a talented women gorgeous xxxxxxxxxx

  • Thank you very much, Carlotta! I’m glad you like it. I really love doing these. But, they take hours and hours, not counting the time to render all the individual fractalets. But, the time just seems to fly by!

Beautiful! I can almost see it moving flowing across the surface, you should think about doing some animations :)

  • Thank you, Joey! I’ve never done animations before. Are they hard to do?

Very lovely collage of images. Splendid creation.

  • Thank you, Bunny! I’m so pleased that my collages seem to be going over well. I think they’re fun because there’s so much to see in them. I’d like to do something like “Where’s Waldo” with a particular fractalet mixed in with lots of other fractalets all over the place. “Where’s the Golden Heart” or something along those lines? Busy as hell with lots of color. That would probably drive people nuts.
